Slate is sedimentary rock,
a fine mudstone that was hardened by compression
and heat.
It has a quality that enables
it to be split into sheets and has been used in roofing for
hundreds of years. These thin sheets make a perfect floor covering or wall cladding.
Suitable applications
Slate can be wonderfully textural when honed or riven and
provides a fantastic sculptural surface to walls and floors.
Under compression slate hardens like a marble. These slates such as Kirkstone and Burlington as well as a dense green from the Italian alps can all be found in our range. In their honed form they will
make a quiet yet beautiful statement as a kitchen worksurface.
